Center Services

The Center for Writing and Speaking is located on the ground floor of Campbell Hall and is open 24 hours a day as a student workspace. Come and meet collectively with your presentation group, or individually with a tutor, as you prepare your project. If you are working on a speech and want to practice your delivery, our Presentation Center (G-17) has state-of-the-art projection equipment to help you make the most of what you have to say.

Writing and Speaking Tutoring

We have more than thirty student tutors who are trained to work in all aspects of the writing and speaking process. Schedule your appointment for assistance with papers, presentations, resumes, and mock interviews. Whether you need to brainstorm ideas for a project or revise a final draft, the CWS is here for you.

Partners Program

The Partners Program matches you with a tutor “partner” for the semester or the year. The program may be used for (but is not limited to): creative writing, practice of conversational English language skills, improving grammar and pronunciation, practice of college-level academic discourse, analytical speech and writing, senior seminar writing and speaking assignments, and reducing speech anxiety.

Course Tutor Program

At an instructor’s request, a CWS tutor may be assigned to a particular course and instructor to serve as a “course tutor.” A course tutor is a great contribution to the class learning experience. They will attend all class sessions, be acquainted with the course materials, and offer course-specific help for writing and speaking assignments.
